Gateway, sanctioned 1828; under construction 1831; extant 1838, on a symmetrical plan comprising pair of repointed tuck pointed drag edged tooled limestone ashlar piers having drag edged tooled cut-limestone stepped capping supporting replacement mild steel double gates. Street fronted at entrance to grounds of Castlebar Infantry Barracks.
A gateway making a pleasing visual statement in the streetscape at a secondary entrance on to the grounds of the Castlebar Infantry Barracks complex.
