What is recorded here

Ballymaglancy Cave is a 726-metre limestone tunnel near Cong where lesser horseshoe bats still roost in darkness. The townland name points to a human family, while Pollwalter suggests a mill pond beside the entrance. People may have avoided the cave because bats filled it, or they may have watched the water emerge and remembered the household that gave the place its name. Either way, the cave keeps both lives: the human name above ground and the bat darkness below it.
