Enclosure in Glantrasna

In rough hill pasture, on a S-facing slope, to the N of a tributary of the Glantrasna River. An oval area (15.8m E-W; 14m N-S) defined by a drystone wall (T c. 1.1m; H 0.8m) which is cut (D 0.7m) into the upslope at N and built up (H 0.8m) externally at S. The wall survives best NW-NE with the lower course stones exposed along the inner face. The wall is totally collapsed NE-NW with the rubble spilling downslope to the S. The lower course stones protrude above the bog and are partly grassed over. Two hut sites (KE109-073002-, KE109-073003-) are located within the NW and SE sector of the enclosure, respectively. There is another hut site (KE109-073004-) immediately to the SE. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Kerry.
