What is recorded here

Pair of single and two-bay three-storey former houses, built c.1900, having returns to rear (north) elevation and oriel windows to front (south) elevation. Now in use as offices. Roof not visible behind wrought-iron railed parapet. Rendered chimneystacks and moulded render eaves course. Roughcast rendered walls to second floor with continuous sill course, smooth rendered walls having roughcast rendered panels to first floor and channelled render to ground floor with moulded render string course. Square-headed window openings with limestone sills, one-over-one timber sash windows to ground floor, timber casement windows to oriel windows and uPVC windows to second floor. Square-headed door openings with render surrounds and timber panelled doors with overlight. Fronts directly onto street.
A curious pair of former houses, which is unusual due to its flat roof, decorative parapet and grandly proportioned first floor with oriel windows. The render detailing, seen in the ground floor channelled render, first floor roughcast render panelling, and decorative eaves course, articulates and differentiates the various levels, while also adding decorative interest.
