What is recorded here
Indicated is a vanished Mayo rath, reduced to a low rise in level pasture after surveyors marked its twenty-seven-metre circle in 1837 and later erased it. The land keeps the shape of a house even when the walls and memory have been flattened.
In an area of level pasture. This possible rath is indicated on 1837 OS 6-inch map as a circular ringfort-like enclosure, and it is shown on the 25-inch plan as a circular hachured enclosure (diam. c. 27m), but is not shown on the later 1930 OS 6-inch map. It has been levelled; a broad, low rise in ground level appears to indicate the original location of the monument.
