What is recorded here
Crannog is an artificial island in Ballindooly, County Galway, where timber and peat were packed above shallow water to create a defensible home. It joins a long Irish tradition of lake dwelling, yet its exact builders and dates remain unrecorded. The water itself formed the boundary, keeping threats at a distance while allowing a small household to live, farm and protect what mattered.
