What is recorded here

Gallaun is a 3.43-metre stone standing inside Cromwell's Fort on the Iveragh Peninsula, County Kerry. It predates the fort by millennia, yet the later structure swallowed it without explanation. A leaning slab now braces what Chatterton called easily shaken in 1839, proving the stone resisted time longer than human patience expected.

Shown on 1842 and 1904 OS 6-inch maps as single standing stone c. 130m to E of wedge tomb (CO081-029----). In pasture, on N-facing slope. Removed; no visible surface trace.
