Knockognoe holds two fulacht fia, one larger lying 4.1m north of the other, both horse-shoe shaped mounds of burnt soil and stone with openings facing west to northeast. People heated water there for cooking, cleaning or ritual, trusting fire and stone to transform ordinary life. The double arrangement suggests a busy place where work and ceremony shared the same ground.

Fulacht fia described in 1985 by the 'Castleisland District Archaeological Survey' as a 'roughly horse-shoe shaped mound of burnt soil and stone with the opening lying between west and northeast.
