Three half-metre ditches and scattered charcoal mark a forgotten enclosure beside Fota Wildlife Park. They may have belonged to people who farmed, fled or simply lived before the land was forgotten. The animals now walk above rooms no one remembers building.

This is the record for 'a possible enclosed settlement site with the presence of three 3.5m wide ditches, associated linear trenches, pits and charcoal spreads' which were uncovered during archaeological testing at Fota Wildlife Park- see unpublished report 'Proposed Extension to Fota Wildlife Park Archaeological Testing Report (Licence no. 12E312)' by Annette Quinn, Tobar Archaeological Services (October 2012).
