Field boundary in Boulerdah,reacaslagh (iveragh By.)

Blanket peat covers the floor of this valley, which opens N onto Kells Bay and is formed by Mount Foley and Knocknadobar on its E and W sides respectively. Removal of peat on the N side of the valley floor has exposed a series of stone walls (K070-002001-), which appear to have been constructed on the pre-peat ground surface. These extend over an area c. 350m x 300m and the land, which slopes gently to S, provides rough pasture. The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J.
