What is recorded here
A fragment of a decorated stone (dims 0.97m x 0.17-0.43m; T 0.12m) tapering from top to bottom was identified in the graveyard (WX015-003008-) of the Cathedral in 2013. It has an incised stem terminating in an incised circle that encloses a marigold in false relief. It's origin may have been as a cross-slab in the 1st millennium (Corlett 2011). It was re-used as a grave-marker when a lightly-incised cross opposite the stem was added, probably in the 18th or 19th century.

Likely dating to the early medieval period (7th–10th century), the cross-slab may have originally formed part of a Christian monument, possibly associated with the ecclesiastical site of Ferns Cathedral, which has historical links to St. Edan. The incised cross suggests a liturgical or commemorative function, though specific folklore or dedications are not recorded.
The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
