What is recorded here
In pasture/grazing, located on a limestone terrace on the lower N-facing slopes of a large limestone hill named Red Hill on the 1913 OS 6-inch map. The location provides extensive views over a broad sweep of coastal grassland, with Benbulbin and Knocknarae on the horizon at NE and ENE, respectively. Oval area (c. 45m N–S; 36m E–W) defined by a ruined stone bank/wall which appears as a low, moss- and sod-covered stone spread (Wth c. 2m; H 0.2-0.4m). The original entrance may be at the ENE where there is a gap (Wth 3m). The N two thirds of the enclosure encompass the available level ground on the terrace, and the S third incorporates the N-facing slope of the higher terrace immediately to S, dropping c. 2.7m in height from the enclosing bank into the interior. In the level NW quadrant of the interior there is a low, grass-covered stony rise (c. 4m E–W; c. 3m N–S). A linear spread of large stones extends from the enclosing wall at W for c. 12m to E towards the centre of the interior.
