Enclosure in Farneybridge

Situated on a break in a SE-facing slope in rolling pastureland with a ringfort (TN041-053001) visible upslope to the NNE. Marked as a roughly circular or oval enclosure on the 1st ed. (1843) OS 6-inch map but not indicated on the 1952-3 ed. Although levelled, the site is visible as an irregular/roughly rectangular enclosure (dims. 28.5m N-S; 19m E-W) with rounded corners defined by a low bank (Wth c. 4m; int. H 0.3m) reduced to a scarp at S (H 0.42m). In the SW sector there is a suggestion of a fosse (Wth 2.8m) defined by lush, dark grass growth. The SE portion has been completely levelled.
