Fairy forts are human places misnamed, often after the death or departure of the people who built them. This is a stone ring in Toberroe, Dunmore, County Galway: a subcircular cashel about twenty-three metres across, with a drystone wall still clearest at the north-west and a possible gap at the south-east. It sits near the western edge of an old field system, with other enclosures not far to the north-east and south-east. The fairies are the easiest tenants to imagine, but the shape and setting suggest people who lived, worked and left behind a boundary the land still remembers.

Near W limits of a field system (GA028-021----). Subcircular cashel (E-W 23.2m, N-S 21.5m), in fair condition, defined by a drystone wall best preserved at NW. A field wall overlies the cashel wall from NW through N to NE. Gap at SE could be original. A drystone wall running SW from the monument, at SE, may be associated. Enclosures (Nos.
