What is recorded here
No fairies built the fort, though people called it that. A human hand raised the stone and earth bank in Dangan, shaping an oval place large enough for a household to live, work and remember. The fort still stands on its low rise, waiting for curiosity.
On a low rise on a gentle N-facing slope, in improved pasture, overlooking woodland to W. An oval area (c. 27.5m NW-SE; c. 25m NE-SW) defined by an earth and stone bank (int. H 0.4m; ext. H 0.8m; Wth at top 2.6m; overall Wth 6.3m) S-W-NE and a broad levelled scarp (Wth 3.7m; H 0.45m) NE-S. A number of field clearance boulders have been placed on the bank SW-W and whitethorn trees grow around the N arc. The interior is largely obscured by a dense overgrowth of briars and some thorn trees.
