Fairy fort / stone ringfort in Crannagh (kiltartan Ed)

Fairy fort / stone ringfort

What is recorded here

No visible castle wall exists because the castle is the hill itself. The edge of the ridge is the visible edge of a much larger hidden structure. What looks like ordinary land may be the deck of an underwater or underground palace. The survey measured the smallest exposed part, not the whole castle.
On E edge of a ridge in pastureland. Poorly preserved subcircular cashel (27m E-W; 25m N-S) defined by a collapsed drystone wall. A cattle byre has been built in the interior. Abutting the cashel wall at NNE is an annexe (13.5m E-W ;12.5m N-S). Compiled by: Galway Archaeological Survey, UCG Date of upload: 1 December 2017
