Carran holds a subrectangular stone cashel near the northern edge of a plateau, facing Poulacarran valley. Its wall still marks a small enclosed life, perhaps for people, perhaps for memory, while the valley carries rain and change past it.
At the N end of a plateau with Poulacarran valley to the N and within a field system (CL009-074001-). A subrectangular cashel (c. 30m N-S; c. 28m E-W) defined by a stone wall visible at ITM 524173, 697071 on Ordnance Survey ortho photography (2013-2018).
