Fairy fort / ringfort in Grange (coolock By., Malahide Ed)

Fairy fort / ringfort

What is recorded here

No visible remains now, because glasshouses and drainage cut through the western edge of a forty-metre circular platform west of Grange House. The lost fort still has the shape of a room in the earth: a raised floor, a thin surrounding bank, a shallow outer ditch and a narrow south-eastern ramp. Whatever lived there stopped being visible long before it stopped existing.
Located under glasshouses west of Grange House. This platform ringfort comprised a circular raised area (diam. 40m; H 2m) with slight traces of a bank around the perimeter (Wth 8m, H c. 0.6m) and an external fosse at the base (Wth 10m; D 0.5m). There was an entrance ramp in SE (Wth 3m). The site is cut by a drain along the W section (Healy 1975, 16). No visible remains.
