Fairy fort / ringfort in Bullaun (clare By.)

Bullaun holds three ancient forts, including the subject cashel and two neighbours, marking a settled landscape rather than a lonely outlier. The main circle measures thirty-seven metres across, though grass and field stones now obscure much of its drystone wall. People may have lived here generations before written records, tending fields or defending family land on the low hill. What is certain is that human hands shaped this slope long ago, and the earth still carries the shape of that labour.
