Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Tullaghna

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

No stone or soil marks the Tullaghna fort now, though surveyors drew its circle on maps across seventy years. The land erased the boundary while memory kept it sharp. Forgetting is not loss when transformation completes what death began.
This circular enclosure lies NE of KE015-016---- and is marked on the 1841-42 and 1916 OS maps. No surface trace remains today. The above description is derived from C. Toal, ‘North Kerry Archaeological Survey’. Dingle. Brandon in association with FAS Training and Employment Authority (1995), no. 597. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 2 August 2013

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
