What is recorded here

No visible trace remains in Tobar Na Múdán, County Kerry, of the earthen ringfort once marked there. A barn and farmyard now occupy the site, though a shallow scarp still hints at the lost bank. The fort measured about twenty metres across and faced north on a gentle slope at the village edge. It has surrendered most of its shape to ordinary farm life, leaving only a faint line in the ground where a whole enclosed world stood.

The site of the circular univallate enclosure marked on the OS maps is now occupied by a barn and farmyard. The outline of portion of the enclosing bank is preserved as a scarp which falls up to 2m to the external ground level, but the monument is for the most part destroyed. It was about 20.3m in diameter. The site lies on a gentle N facing slope at the SE edge of the village. The above description is derived from J. Cuppage, ‘Corca Dhuibhne.
