What is recorded here

Shanlaragh holds a wide earthen ring, raised three metres above pasture on a west-facing slope, with a narrow eastern gap and a hidden passage beneath the floor. People called it a fairy fort, perhaps because the underground tunnel still smells of forgotten hands and breath. The fairies may have taken the place later, but human muscles built the ridge, dug the ditch, and vanished into the dark below.

In pasture, on W-facing slope. Circular platform (41.5m N-S; 41m E-W) raised 3m above surrounding land; slight internal lip, rising to 0.6m, each side of entrance to E (Wth 4.5m). External fosse SE->SW (D 1m). Man-made underground passage (CO094-04402-) in interior. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
