What is recorded here

Fairy forts are earthen rings, often circular or kidney shaped, built without stone walls. They appear across Ireland and Britain, usually on rising ground, near water or beside older land marks. Some are small, some are broad, and some preserve shallow ditches, banks or internal divisions. They are not fantasy places. The fairy name came later. The earth worked first.
