What is recorded here

Fairy forts are not fairy forts. They are human ringforts, misnamed because people stopped remembering the humans who built them. Shandrum is one of those: a small earthen circle on a hillock, partly broken open by farms and forgetting. The fairies did not invent it. We did, then we let go.

In pasture, atop hillock. Circular area (24m N-S; 25m E-W) enclosed by earthen bank (H 0.7m). Remains of stone facing on outside of bank. Bank topped by stone wall to E and S. Breaks in bank to E (Wth 3.4m), W (Wth 3m), SE (Wth 2m) and NNE (Wth 2.6m); E and W gaps appear recent; linked by track used by farm machinery. Slight trace of fosse to ESE.
