Marianne stood at the edge of the circular platform, her shadow stretching across the grass as the sun dropped behind the hills. The fort had no walls, only a ridge of packed earth and a shallow ditch that disappeared into the ground like a forgotten sentence. She placed her hand on the stone boundary and felt heat return to her fingers, not from the sun but from somewhere beneath the soil. The land was not dead; it was waiting for someone to remember the shape of the room it had once held.

A circular enclosure is marked at this location on both editions of the OS maps. The site survives as a 1.35m high circular platform which measures 27.8m N-S x 29.4m E-W. Coniferous trees border its SE sector, where a stone-built field boundary abuts it. A shallow depression below the platform at W is the only indication of the former presence of a fosse. It measures 2m wide and .3m deep. The site is described in the OSNB as a 'fort having a cave in it' (KE083-028001-) (Templeno, 3). It is located on a low scarp, directly E of a tributary of the Blackwater river. The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J.
