Fairy fort in Meenahony, County Cork: a 24.2m earthen ring with stone-faced bank, external fosse on the west, and a possible underground passage inside, set above Shournagh River with Glountanenagun gorge below. People may have lived, hidden or ritualised there before calling it a fairy fort; the name came later, shaped by wonder and fear. The earth still keeps its shape, and the passage remains unproven, which is why the place feels alive rather than dead.

In rough grazing, with steep-sided gorge (Glountanenagun), to S overlooking Shournagh River to N. Circular area (diam. 24.2m) defined by earthen stone-faced bank (int. H 1.2m); external fosse (max. D 1.4m) on W side. Possible Man-made underground passage (CO050-074002-) in interior. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
