Fairy fort in Loughan is a circular grass-covered area twenty-eight metres across, bounded by an earthen bank reduced to a scarp in places, with a narrow eastern entrance and no visible ditch. It sits on a slight rise in gently undulating Country Meath land, partly truncated by a road bank at the west. People may have lived there, marked territory there, or simply noticed the shape and kept it clear. The fairies, according to local story, never left.

Located on a slight rise in a gently undulating landscape. This is a circular grass-covered area (diam. 28m WNW-ESE; 26.7m NNE-SSW) defined by an earthen bank (at NNE: Wth of base 4.5m; int. H 0.4m; ext. H 1m) that is largely reduced to a scarp (at SSW: Wth 3.4m; H 1.1m). There is no visible fosse but the entrance (Wth of base 1.6m) is at E. The perimeter is truncated slightly by a NNE-SSW road bank at W. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Meath' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1987).
