Knockburrane holds a sub-circular earthen ringfort thirty-five metres wide, set on rising pastureland where the view stretches unbroken in every direction. Its bank still rises two to three metres above the external fosse, marking a boundary drawn in soil rather than stone. The eastern gap remains five metres wide, perhaps an invitation or a warning depending on who approached. Modern drainage deepened the surrounding ditch, but the interior stayed overgrown and elevated, preserving the shape of a place that watched the land long before people stopped watching it back.

Internal diameter 35m N-S, 34m E-W This sub-circular univallate rath is situated in rising pastureland, and the view is excellent in all directions. The enclosing earthen bank is well defined and rises to 1m-1.8m above the interior and 2m-3m above the fosse. The external fosse is U shaped and has been deepened in modern times for drainage purposes. It is .8m-1.2m wide and 1.3m deep. The interior, which is very overgrown, is at a higher level than the surrounding land. A 5.4m wide gap exists to the E. The above description is derived from C.
