Lisín Dónaill, the little ringfort of Dónall, still stands in the black wood near the River Feale. A wide earthen bank and shallow ditch enclose a small circular space, marking the residence of one man and perhaps his family. They lived inside this simple fort, raised from the earth itself, while the surrounding forest watched.

Internal diameter 28m N-S, 24m E-W Lisheendonnell/Lisín Dónaill (little ringfort of Dónall - personal name) is situated in the SW corner of the Black Wood and NE of the River Feale. This univallate rath consists of a sub-circular area enclosed by a bank and an external fosse. The NW to W sector has been cut slightly by a field drain. The enclosing earthen bank is 5m wide and rises to a height of 1.8m above the fosse and 1m above the interior. The U-shaped external fosse can be traced for most of the site, where it is 1m-1.6m wide and .6m deep; it cannot be traced NW to W due to a modern drain. The above description is derived from C.
