Inchbeg, County Clare. A ringfort, called a fairy fort in local story, stands on the island. Earth and time have shaped it into a quiet circle. People may have lived there, marked territory, or simply followed the curve the land already suggested. The sea closed around it later, leaving the fort behind like a sentence nobody finished.
