Gortnagap holds a forty-four-metre earthen ring on a gentle southern slope, watching three horizons while hiding its north edge from view. People may have lived inside that shallow ditch or simply marked the boundary between human fields and fairy road. Tractors still force through the eastern gap, proving the entrance remains useful even when the purpose becomes unclear.

On the fairly gentle S-facing slope of a valley running roughly NE-SW, in reclaimed grassland. There are very good views to the E, S and W and moderate to the N. A roughly circular platform (diam. 42m N-S; 44m E-W) defined by scarp (H 0.5-1.5m) and enclosed by a fosse (Wth 2.5m; D 0.6m). There are slight traces of an outer bank, though this may be the remains of a field boundary. There is a causewayed entrance (Wth 6m) in the E sector.
