Fairy forts are often called ringforts, but this is not a ringfort. It is a flat-floored circular platform set into the hillside, with a steep scarped edge and a lower bank on the opposite side. That shape makes more sense for a fairy fort: a bounded place, raised or cut into the land, not a household defensive ring.

In pasture, on NW-facing slope above Argideen River. Circular area (diam. c. 35m) raised on W side to compensate for hillslope. Interior enclosed by earthen bank (H 1.50m) NNW->S; scarp S->NNW (H 1.4m). Interior heavily overgrown. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
