Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Derrydonnell More

Fairy fort in Derrydonnell More is a circular rath fifty-nine metres across, still standing in rolling Galway pasture with a stone-faced earthen bank and outer ditch. Its northern half hides a man-made underground passage, perhaps a cellar, refuge or forgotten way of moving through the land. People may have lived, stored or sheltered there before the field became ordinary, while the fairies kept the name and the strange part of the memory alive.
