What is recorded here

Coolnacarrick holds a broad earthen ring where a substantial bank still circles a raised grass floor. The east-southeast gap may have been the entrance, admitting people or cattle into a neighbourhood old enough to belong before written memory. The fort is not a fantasy, though its name suggests one. It is a made place, shaped by hands, large enough to hold a small world inside its curve.

Raised circular area (int. dims. 43.2m NE-SW; 41m NW-SE) enclosed by a substantial earthen bank and the remains of a fosse. Large break in bank from E-SE may represent original entrance.
