Fairy fort in Clonervy, County Cavan: an earthen ringfort on a low hill, marked Fort in 1836 and Site of in 1876, now absent from ground view. The land may have worn its edges into grass and memory. People may have lived there, fled there, or forgotten it after flourishing. What is left is a name, a height, and the suspicion that ordinary soil can hide an entire life.
