Fairy fort in Cloghroe, County Cork: a vanished double-banked earthen ringfort, about twenty-five metres across, recorded in 1842 and partly levelled by 1939. It stood in working farmland, its eastern bank still rising five feet when Hartnett measured it, while ploughs took the rest. The name suggests people once placed it outside human law, yet the facts point to an ordinary defensive or domestic enclosure lost to tillage.

In tillage. Depicted as hachured univallate circular enclosure (diam. c. 25m) on 1842 OS 6-inch map; only E half marked on 1903 and 1939 OS 6-inch maps. Levelled; no visible surface trace. According to Hartnett (1939, 278), double-banked; 'inner bank well preserved at the eastern half' (H 5ft), outer bank surviving to SE and to the W both banks levelled.
