Fairy fort in Cauhoo, County Cavan: a raised circular area, 26 metres across, enclosed by two earthen banks with a wide, deep, waterlogged fosse between them. The outer bank is absent in the east quadrant, and a break in the inner bank with a causeway suggests the original entrance may have been there. People may have lived, hidden, gathered or raged inside that small wet ring before forgetting it; the fairies, according to local story, never left.
