Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Caherelly East

Caherelly East holds a twenty-metre earthen ring where a shallow fosse still traces the boundary. The scarped edge rises barely a metre above the pasture, yet that small height separates ordinary ground from a place where people once drew a line around their own lives. The west side thickens into a broad bank, suggesting the entrance faced east toward the open field. A fortress for humans or a fortress for fairies depends on whether you believe the line was drawn to keep out or to hold in.
