Fairy fort in Barrahaurin: oval earthen ring, 38 metres long, 27 metres wide, bank 1.6 metres high, entrance south-south-east, in pasture beside Dripsey River valley. One of four such rings in a line on the northeast side of the valley. People may have lived there, marked territory, or kept animals inside the bank. The fairies, according to local story, took the site later and made it theirs.

In pasture. Oval area (38m NNW-SSE; 27m NNE-SSW) defined by earthen bank (H 1.6m). Entrance to SSE. Interior clear of overgrowth. A fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Barrahaurin is an early-medieval defensive or domestic site, likely dating to between the 5th and 10th centuries AD. It is associated with local folklore regarding fairy activity and otherworldly beings, common to many such sites in Ireland.
