Fairy fort in Ballytrasna, County Galway: a shallow earthen ring, forty-six to forty-nine metres across, beside another ringfort and a third farther north. The name suggests people once imagined the fort belonged to fairies rather than themselves. The earth may have swallowed the hands that shaped it, but the circle still marks the place where human life and fairy story both turned.

Some 40m N of a ringfort (GA029-024----). Poorly preserved subcircular rath (E-W 49m, N-S 46m) defined by a bank best preserved at NW. The fosse survives from NW to N. A ringfort (GA029-025----) lies c. 270m to NW. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'.
