Fairy forts are earthen rings where people once lived, worked and forgot to leave behind every tool they owned. Ballynote East holds one of these rings, a simple circle of soil that has watched fields change for centuries. The fairies are not the point. The forgotten human hands are.

A fairy fort, also known as an earthen ringfort or rath, is a circular earthwork enclosure typically dating to the early medieval period (c. 500–1000 AD), often associated with domestic or defensive use. Local folklore may link such sites to the supernatural, with traditions of fairies or other otherworldly beings residing within.
