Fairy fort in Ballymurphy Upper, County Cork: a 38m earthen ring with a 0.7m bank, shallow external fosse and a wide northern break that may be its true entrance. It sits in level pasture, slightly raised, as if the land still remembers being shaped for people rather than left to grass. Perhaps it was a home, a boundary marker or a place for gathering; perhaps the fairies took it back after the people forgot.

In level pasture. Circular area (diam. 38m) enclosed by earthen bank (H 0.7m) with external fosse (D 1.1m), shallow NW->NE. Break in bank (Wth 10m) to N which may be original entrance. Interior level and raised above surrounding land. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
