No visible fort remains in Ballykeating, but a hidden underground passage still lies within the old circular area. That much is clear. The earth above has been levelled and dumped, perhaps by people who saw no reason to preserve what they did not understand. The fairies may have watched the men cover their hall with soil, then waited for the men to leave before emerging to judge the damage.

Depicted as hachured circular enclosure (diam. c. 22m) on 1842 OS 6-inch map, bisected by N-S field boundary; W half hachured as semicircular raised area on 1934 OS 6-inch map, with Man-made underground passage (CO027-00102-) in interior.
