Fairy forts are not for the setting up of tents, the lighting of fires, the driving in of stakes. They are the hidden kitchens and guardrooms of the displaced, waiting for people clever enough to see the seams and stupid enough to invite them in. Ballyenahan North has a ringfort, which is to say it has a room with a door. The fairies left the kitchen behind. They expect it furnished, lit, and occupied. They are patient, and they are watching for someone busy enough to stop asking what the shape is for.

In tillage, atop natural rise. Depicted as hachured slightly oval enclosure (c. 35m x c. 40m) on 1842 OS 6-inch map. Levelled; semicircular arc (C 40m) formed by low rise around top of hillock.
