Twenty-six paces across, the earthen ring still holds its shape on the north slope below Flemingstown mountain. A sunken lane presses against the outer bank, and a rectangular shadow in the northeast floor marks the lost entrance to an underground passage people walked until recently. The fort does not ask to be believed; it waits to be entered.

Internal diam. 25.8m. This circular univallate rath with Man-made underground passage is situated on the N slopes of the low ridge that extends W from Flemingstown mountain. A sunken laneway skirts the outer edge of the bank along most of the S half of the enclosure and the external height of the bank here is 2.2m. The remainder of the bank varies from c. 1m to 1.4m in external height, from c. 0.5m to 1.6m in internal height, and it is c. 2.2m wide at base. A 1.45m long section of the inner face at ENE is revetted with drystone masonry to a height of .7m. A 3.9m long section of the outer face at NNW is also revetted with drystone walling but this feature is not visible elsewhere. It is not clear which of the 2 ill-defined gaps at N represent the original entrance. A rectangular depression in the NE part of the interior marks the site of a Man-made underground passage which was accessible within living memory. The above description is derived from J.
