Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Ashleypark (Ardcrony parish) is a fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Ashleypark (Ardcrony parish), County Tipperary, Ireland. It stands on a southeast-facing wooded slope, shaped as a slightly oval enclosure with a two-metre-wide bank rising one metre inside and one point eight metres outside, while a five-point-five-metre-wide outer ditch runs beyond it. A low east-west bank cuts across the western half, where a stone ramp climbs to the top, and an entrance marks the eastern side. Beech trees now cover the site, which may have been reused as a tree-ring beside a rectangular enclosure visible in a 1974 aerial photograph.
Situated on a SE-facing slope in a wooded area. A slightly oval-shaped enclosure enclosed by a bank (Wth 2m; int. H 1m; ext. H 1.8m), and a wide, deep, outer fosse (Wth 5.5m). A low, earthen bank, on an E-W axis, bisects the W half of the site. An internal stone feature at W forms a ramp up to the top of the bank and there is an entrance feature at E. The site has been planted with beech trees and was probably adapted slightly and reused as tree-ring. A rectangular enclosure (TN015-043002) identified on an aerial photograph taken in 1974 (GSIAP, R 192/3) adjoins the ringfort to the SE.
The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
