Faha Wood still hides the stone-built Cave, a narrow underground passage where two short tunnels meet through a low creepway. People built it beneath the soil, perhaps to shelter, hide or simply enjoy the darkness, but water eventually filled the chambers. During the 1970s the saturation became uncontrollable, so the passage was infilled and forgotten. The wood keeps the shape of that buried choice, preserving a human attempt to live inside the earth before the earth took it back.

Located in Faha Wood, this stone-built Man-made underground passage, 'Cave' on the second edition of the OS maps, comprises two short passageways connected by a creepway (Rynne, forthcoming). It is not now accessible. The Man-made underground passage became waterlogged and was infilled in the 1970s (local information). The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J.
