What is recorded here
On the crest of a N-facing slope. A test excavation (04E0762) at the site of a new house produced evidence of an oval pit (dims 2.45m E-W; 0.9-1.4m plus N-S; D 0.5m), possibly from a pitfield, filled with a light topsoil containing some charcoal flecks. It was preserved in situ (Read 2007f).
