What is recorded here
Toberuna is a holy well in County Offaly, Ireland. The site contains a natural spring cut into bedrock but shows no religious markings or votive offerings. It may have served as an ordinary drinking well rather than a place of worship. Stonepark graveyard lies nearby to the southwest, suggesting the water may have sustained the living who visited the dead.
Natural spring well cut out of natual bedrock, no known religious associations or votive offerings at the well. May be just the remains of a secular well, however Stonepark graveyard (OF014-010001-) is located to the SW and may have some association with the well.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Offaly' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
