Enclosure in Eantybeg North

Enclosure

What is recorded here

On a S-facing slope on a narrow karstic NE-SW ridge in between two reclaimed fields and within a large multiperiod field system (CL009-030001-). A large oval enclosure (c. 100m NE-SW; c. 66m NW-SE) defined by a stone wall visible on Digital Globe (2011-2013) and on OSi orthophotography (MapGenie 2013-2018). A fairly straight NE-SW field boundary forms the NW side and another field boundary perpendicular to that crosses the site from NW to SE. A raised subcircular area (diam. c. 20m) occupies the centre. A hut site (CL009-226----) lies c. 83m to the NE and a large natural hollow of similar size and shape to the main enclosure lies immediately to the SE.
